Lynn MacAskill was a finalist in the Fine Art Trade Guild's Framing Competition for 2006.
Lynn was over the moon at reaching the final six of the competition, especially as it was the first time she had entered. The theme for this year was ‘Music’ and each framer could frame anything they liked within the parameters set by the Guild.
Lynn said, ‘Whenever anyone says ‘music’ I think of the lyrics, ‘Music, makes the people, come together’ from the Madonna song. So I found an image that represented people coming together, which was a fabulous photo by Alex Winser of a black hand shaking a white hand. I put a white double mount with a black mount, plus a v-groove (which gives a white line on the black) and then a local calligrapher, Colin Godwin, wrote the lyric underneath. I then finished with piano keys cut out of mountboard at the top and bottom, with a plain black frame.’
